What about the game?

It’s interesting — bordering on fascinating — sometimes what makes news, and when.

Such has been the case this week with The Cleveland Browns (hey, if The Ohio State University can hype itself that way, why, then, can’t also the Browns?).

The biggest news coming out of team headquarters in Berea the last two days is that the Browns have signed guard Wyatt Teller to a huge contract extension, and also that the club has started talks with the other guard, Joel Bitonio, to do the same kind of deal, only much bigger.

This is good news — great news — because the  offensive line is one of the most important parts of any football team, the Browns have arguably the best line in the NFL and Teller and Bitonio are among the top linemen in the league.

But the timing of this news?

Ugh. Not so good.

“McFly, McFly, hello, hello, is anybody home up there? Think, McFly, think.”

Are the Browns aware that they have a big game on Sunday? It’s against the New England Belichicks. Perhaps you’ve heard of them. Their head coach is a guy who used to be with the Browns, Bill Belichick. Perhaps you’ve heard of him as well. And did I also mention that the game is in Foxboro, where opposing teams go to die?

Considering all that, then, shouldn’t the top stories be about the game instead?

Just sayin.’
